How this site is paid for
FrenchCruises.com may earn a commission when you book through some links on this site, at no additional cost to you.
That is the short version, and it is repeated beside the links themselves rather than left here for you to find.
The longer version
When a reader follows a link from here to a booking partner or an operator and books, FrenchCruises.com may receive a commission from the merchant. The reader pays the same price either way. There is no markup, fee or charge from us.
We do not take the booking. Price, availability, inclusions, cancellation terms and any financial protection are matters between you and whoever takes your money.
How a paid link works here
- It goes straight to the merchant. The address in a paid link is the merchant’s own, and you can read it before you follow it.
- It is disclosed beside itself. The sentence naming the arrangement sits directly under the button, not in the footer.
- It only exists when it is real. A page carries a commercial link when there is a real one to carry, and carries none when there is not.
What we record when you follow one
That it was followed: which link, on which page, and when. We do not record who you are, and no third party is involved. See privacy for the whole of it.
What commission does not buy
- Position. Nothing is ranked, ordered or featured because it pays more. Where two operators are close, we say they are close.
- Wording. No operator sees a page before it is published, and none has ever been given input into one.
- Silence. Where a product is a poor fit for a reader, the page says so. A comparison that never says "not this one" is an advertisement.
What we are not
FrenchCruises.com is a publisher, not a travel agency. We do not sell or arrange travel, take payment, hold deposits, issue tickets or make reservations. Price, availability, inclusions, cancellation terms and any financial protection are matters between you and whoever takes your booking.
Why the disclosure is where it is
Guidance from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission is that a material connection must be disclosed clearly, conspicuously and close to the recommendation, and that the words "affiliate link" alone may not tell a reader that the publisher is paid. So the disclosure sits next to the link, in a sentence, in the same size type as everything around it.
